MSU:Bonner wades into challenge of move
STARKVILLE – When Sylvester Croom approached Wade Bonner back in January about possibly moving to running back, there were no reservations on his part.
After all, it’s where he played in high school and racked up 3,000 all-purpose yards.
Still, this former cornerback knew there would be new terminology to learn and that his approach to the game would be different.
But he wanted to be a team player, so he pressed forward, accepting the challenge from his coaches by moving from defense to offense.
“I just want to play where the coaches need me,” the redshirt freshman from Mason, Tenn., said. “Defense is a lot different, but I’m learning. I’m just fortunate God has blessed me to be able to play different positions.”
It hasn’t all been easy.
True, the running has been rather fluid. Picking up blitzes and the right reads, well, that’s been a different story.
