Edwards’s scandal ensnares “asbestos lawsuit king” Fred Baron
Baron’s enabling role doesn’t sit well with, among others, Texans for Lawsuit Reform. That group is appalled at Baron’s lack of integrity. What really seems to be going on is that Baron’s getting caught in this mess simply gives tort reformers ammunition to go after this high-profile plaintiff attorney. They claim that his suits bankrupted 70 American corporations and caused American workers to lose jobs.
Given that plaintiff attorneys have become such juicy targets, they seem to have to keep to a higher code of ethical behavior. Unfortunately, they often do not – think Dickie Scruggs.
