OLE MISS:DT Jerry tweaks knee in Rebels’ practice

OXFORD – Disaster was avoided Friday evening when trainer Tim Mullins gave Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt the good news:
Peria Jerry’s knee sprain is minor.

The defensive tackle and senior leader of a talented line, Jerry came up limping early in the workout, the Rebels’ first in full pads, in a full-contact drill pitting the linebackers and line against the offensive line.
He sat out the remainder of the practice and was replaced by freshman Justin Smith.
Defensive line depth has been a luxury for the Rebels, but it’s been tested a bit in the early going with injuries to starting nose tackle Ted Laurent and end Greg Hardy.
“We’ve hit a little injury deal there, and we’re starting to run out of some bodies,” Nutt said.
