With time running out for the Senate to act, President Bush has nominated Meridian lawyer Richard Barry to a federal judgeship in Jackson.
Barry, 54, has been nominated to replace retired Judge William Barbour Jr. on the U.S. District Court in Mississippi’s Southern District.
“I’m honored and privileged to be recommended by Sens. (Thad) Cochran, (Roger) Wicker and previously by (former) Sen. Trent Lott,” Barry said.
