SportsSEC: Nutt ready to satisfy hungry Ole Miss fans

Hoover, AL – Houston Nutt hopes to build on a first impression.

Last November, the former University of Arkansas football coach entered the Gertrude Castellow Ford Center for the Performing Arts as a Rebel.
Less than 48 hours earlier, Nutt had resigned as the Razorbacks’ coach. That announcement came two days after reports indicated the school’s chancellor and athletic director wanted Nutt to stay.
All of that didn’t matter to the 1,500 Ole Miss fans who packed the Ford Center, or the 500-600 others who reportedly were turned away.
Everyone was in agreement: The fans believed the Rebels had hired a coach who could return their football program to prominence.
“That was a day of goose bumps,” Nutt said. “It just re-energized us from that moment forward.”
