Four one-hour TV documentaries on civil rights cold cases — two of them cold-blooded 1955 murders of Mississippi blacks active in voting rights — will debut in October as part of a “Murder in Black and White” series aimed at sparking dialogue on the FBI’s recently established Cold Case Unit to reopen unsolved civil rights cases.
Produced by filmmaker Keith Beauchamp for California-based TV One, the documentary series is being created in close cooperation with the FBI, utilizing a host of family members, veterans of the 1960s civil rights movement, forensic scientists and archival material to analyze and provide new insight into some 102 decades-old cases.
