Scruggses ready for disbarment

Attorneys Dickie and Zach Scruggs no longer oppose the Mississippi Bar’s request that they be disbarred from the practice of law.

The requests are pending before the Mississippi Supreme Court. They previously opposed the request because a judgment had not been entered in a judicial bribery case that resulted in guilty pleas from the father and son, who practiced at the Scruggs Law Firm in Oxford.

Once the felony judgments were entered, the bar sent certified copies to the court and renewed its request that the Scruggses be disbarred or indefinitely suspended as attorneys pending any appeals. In his response, Zach Scruggs once again apologized for his actions and said he accepted responsibility.

Dickie Scruggs’ response simply said he does not oppose the bar’s request.
