Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann’s letter to the Mississippi Gaming Commission is stirring debate over last week’s decision to deny the South Beach Casino.
Gaming Commission Chairman Jerry St. Pé said the letter delivered before the commission meeting in Biloxi on July 17 outlines how tidelands leases are determined and doesn’t speak to the legality of the South Beach site.
But Daniel McDaniel, attorney for RW Development’s South Beach, reads it differently. Hosemann said the Public Trust Tidelands Boundary at the RW Casino site “is the seawall.”
