Gov. Haley Barbour’s commutation of killer Michael David Graham’s life sentence probably shocked many people in Jackson County and came with little explanation.
Graham, 54, has served 19 years of a life sentence. On April 7, 1989, Graham pulled up next to his ex-wife, Adrienne Klasky Graham, aimed a 12-gauge shotgun at her as she sat in her car waiting for a traffic signal at the Jackson Avenue and Pascagoula Street intersection, fired and killed her. The couple had been divorced three years, yet Graham reportedly stalked and threatened his ex-wife during that time. It is easy to assume she lived and died in a state of terror.
A retired Pascagoula police officer, Jamie Hunter, said the close range shotgun blast to the head was “gruesome. ”
