No logjam in Auburn’s backfield

No logjam in Auburn’s backfield
With Mario Fannin sliding out to play slot receiver this season, Auburn’s offensive backfield just got a little less crowded. Fannin can do a little bit of everything, which ought to make him a hot commodity in Tony Franklin’s spread offense.
One thing there won’t be is a pecking order at tailback between Ben Tate and Brad Lester entering the season. Auburn running backs coach Eddie Gran tells Charles Goldberg of the Birmingham (Ala.) News that he envisions using Tate and Lester in a similar fashion as Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown.
Now, if only they flirt with that kind of success. Don’t forget about Tristan Davis, either. If he can stay healthy, he’ll also factor into the equation.
What is it about running backs and Auburn? Talk about a pipeline at one position.
