The Mississippi College School of Law’s quietly lobbying against state lawmakers allowing sales of alcohol near its campus is understandable.
But alcohol sales are essential for the Farish Street Entertainment District to be a success, so it was imperative that the Legislature approve it and that Gov. Haley Barbour now sign it into law.
State Sen. John Horhn, D-Jackson, who helped push the bill, credited Barbour for adding it to the call of the special session last week and staffers who worked with reluctant senators to get the bill through.
