Musgrove’s pay will take hit if he’s elected to Senate

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 3, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 7/3/8

Former Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove would take a sizable pay cut if he were elected to the U.S. Senate.

Musgrove earned nearly $300,000 last year from his law practice and from teaching and consulting jobs, according to financial disclosure records recently filed with the secretary of the Senate. Senators earn $169,300 annually.

Musgrove, a Democrat, is running against Republican Sen. Roger Wicker, a former House member appointed by Gov. Haley Barbour to fill retired Sen. Trent Lott’s seat.

Since he was defeated for re-election by Barbour in 2003, Musgrove has worked as a lawyer, adjunct professor and consultant.
