ESPN basketball analyst Jay Bilas has created quite an uproar in Nashville and in the Vanderbilt community this week following his comments about Shan Foster after the former Commodore star was picked by the Dallas Mavericks in Thursday’s NBA Draft.
Foster is known primarily as a perimeter shooter, but Bilas isn’t certain it will translate into NBA success.
“He’s got the ability to hit shots from about 18 to 21 feet, but I don’t think his range necessarily extends back to three-point distance,” Bilas said on the air. “He can hit shots off the dribble, mostly spotting up. But if his range isn’t going to extend to where he can make shots from the NBA three-point distance, I think it’s going to be a lot tougher of an adjustment for him. He shoots the college three with relative ease, but the pro three is a heck of a lot different.”
