Ole Miss committ working on Tupelo star

Talk about it in The Grove
Chad Bumphis’ phone was being rung by a recruiter on Wednesday, despite the fact that college coaches can’t let their fingers do the walking right now.

Clayton Moore was calling the Tupelo, Miss., star wide receiver just one day after committing to Ole Miss. Moore, a quarterback from Louisville, Miss., is looking for targets to catch the passes he hopes he’ll be throwing one day in Oxford, and there are few potential targets in the Southeast more exciting than Bumphis.

Did Moore’s call sway Bumphis, a four-star wide receiver ranked No. 5 on the RebelSports.net Mississippi Preseason Top 25?

“He’s real cool and everything,” said Bumphis, a 5-foot-11, 185-pounder, “but I still have to do what’s best for me.”

That could end up being Ole Miss, but right now, the Rebels aren’t in Bumphis’ top four. Mississippi State, Alabama, LSU and Florida _ in no particular order _ are.
