Alabama judge cites Rigsbys, Scruggs with contempt, orders them to pay $65,000

A federal judge in Alabama cited Dickie Scruggs and two former insurance adjusters for civil contempt, ordering them to pay $65,000 to attorneys for E.A. Renfroe, the Alabama company that employed the adjusters.

The Rigsbys say they turned over all their records to Scruggs, who had to bow out of Katrina litigation after being indicted in December for attempting to bribe a North Mississippi judge. They also gave copies of the records to state and federal investigators.

Scruggs failed to turn over the records after Acker ordered them given to Renfroe’s attorneys, instead sending his set to Attorney General Jim Hood, who already had copies.
