Taylor Spokesman: Superdelegate Won’t Back Obama Or Clinton
One Mississippi superdelegate is withholding his vote from both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Fourth District Congressman Gene Taylor had long promised to back the candidate who supported his multi-perils insurance bill. But since neither Obama nor Clinton has done so, a spokesman for Taylor said the congressman will not pledge his vote to either candidate on principal.
Carnelia Pettis-Fondren of Oxford announced her support Tuesday, as Obama effectively secured the party’s nomination for the presidency.
She is the fifth Mississippi Democratic superdelegate to commit to Obama; none have gone with Clinton. Newly elected congressman Travis Childers remains uncommitted.
