Obama and Auschwitz claims

By: Magnolia Tribune - May 29, 2008

Obama seems to struggle when discussing wars and/or veterans. In the first video, he seems to struggle to identify with veterans or with the Memorial Day celebration itself. Mentioning that many fallen heros were in the crowd is … well… just see the video.

But the latest is his comments regarding an uncle and the Auschwitz concentration camp detailed in this video.

This isn’t the first time he mentioned Auschwitz. Back in 2002, in a speech against the Iraq war, he stated “My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton’s army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka.” Even then he mis-stated Auschwitz, unless his grandfather discussed stories with fellow Soviet Troops since they are who liberated Auschwitz and Treblinka.

It seems difficult to easily write it off to a tired campaigner or a simple mistake, when something similar six years ago, in a prepared speech also occured.
