Senator Kennedy Should Retire-Paul Gallo
I hate expending the energy of being hypocritical. It’s like the exponential energy required in having multiple lies all play out the right way. Yes, with the recent health problems of the legendary, hard living senator, we should all wish for his best. At the end of our regular prayers for everything from family to survivors of the latest calamity, we should also include the sick. In the case of Ted Kennedy, I think he’s been ill for a long time. Maybe from May 1951, when he was expelled from Harvard after he was caught cheating during a Spanish examination.
So why be a hypocrite? Senator Kennedy’s long history as one of the main engineers of socialism in this country needs not be forgotten. In his quest to help his fellow man, Senator Ted Kennedy helped cultivate generations of those who even today cannot survive without government subsistence. In doing so he has strengthened the Democrat Party with obligated voters but weakened any chance that millions will live a life full to their God given potential.
In 1969, Edward Kennedy drove off a bridge into the channel between Chappaquiddick Island and Martha’s Vineyard. As luck would have it for the Democrat Party, Kennedy managed to escape. but the young campaign worker, Mary Jo Kopechne, drowned in the submerged car. Senator Ted Kennedy left the scene of the accident and astonishingly did not call authorities until the following day. Kennedy pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. The fair and balance scales of justice handed the powerful senator and Kennedy clan member a devastating TWO MONTHS SUSPENDED JAIL TERM!
What’s bothered me more than anything over the years is that it seems Teddy Kennedy has flaunted that “great escape” in the face of most Americans. He’s done that from his humble abode in Hyannisport to the floor of the U.S. Senate. His larger than life persona, from drinking to his outrageous anti-conservative statements, makes most of us wish he’d retired the same night he was making an excuse list after the drowning of that poor young soul. It was shameful then, and it’s just as shameful now. Get well soon, Senator Kennedy.
