Polk unsure what he’ll do next
STARKVILLE — Sometime Sunday morning, when the hoopla of his final game as the Mississippi State baseball coach is a memory, Ron Polk will wake up and return to his cluttered office.
There’ll be an early afternoon meeting with his team. Since there is no tournament for this season that has gone sour, it’ll be a year-ender – equipment to be turned in, baseballs to be signed.

So we know, without a shadow of a doubt, what’s immediately around the corner for Polk, 64, whose 29 seasons at State will come to a close in a series against Arkansas that begins tonight at Dudy Noble Field.

His long-term plans, though, remain quite the mystery. Even to Polk.
