Can anyone crash the SEC big six’s party?
Georgia is certain to be the preseason favorite to win the Southeastern Conference football championship in 2008. Florida, LSU and Auburn will probably get lots of love. Some believe Alabama and/or Tennessee could make a run.
Being picked to win the championship at SEC Media Days has been a kiss of death most seasons. The safest bet of all is that the SEC champion will be one of six teams – Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee or LSU.
Since Ole Miss finished barely ahead of Auburn in 1963, no team outside of those six has won a championship. Each of them has won it at least once in the past 10 years.
