In the next several months you are likely to hear a lot of discussion on Mississippi’s highway system. You’ll also hear a lot about Vision 21, a program whose aim is to build more than 1,200 miles of highways in the next few decades.
Vision 21 is the successor to the AHEAD program that built hundreds of miles of four-lane highways starting in 1987.
That program is ending and Vision 21 replaces it. The major difference between the programs is AHEAD’s goal was to provide a four-lane highway within 30 to 40 miles of every Mississippian.
