PARRISH ALFORD:Who are the real Rebels?
OXFORD – When things aren’t going right for Fuller Smith, he makes a game out of BP.

When the hits aren’t falling for Matt Smith he tries to push it out of his mind altogether.

Some things aren’t going right for Ole Miss right now as the 21st-ranked Rebels try to keep control of the SEC West.

All things aren’t bad, Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco says, and there’s no shaky index finger hovering above the panic button.

But it is a peculiar team that takes off to a trouble spot tonight at Jonesboro, Ark., before coming back to host that state’s more popular western citizens, the Razorbacks, this weekend.

Ole Miss (25-15, 10-8 SEC) showed a high level of offense in two different nine-game win streaks this season. But when the Rebels haven’t been streaking they’ve shown an ugly side too.

After starting 9-0 they went 6-11. Since winning another nine in a row to get to 24-11, they’d lost four of five going into Tuesday’s game against Murray State.

In the first nine-game spurt, before SEC play, the Rebels never scored fewer than six runs and scored double-figure runs five times.
