The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency will get federal assistance in assessing tornado damage in Hinds County.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency plans to send a small team from its Atlanta office today to help MEMA review damage from Friday’s storm.
If the joint assessment determines there is substantial damage, the federal government is likely to be asked to help displaced Hinds County residents.
FEMA could offer rental assistance, temporary housing and other aid. The Small Business Administration could offer low-interest loans to storm victims who meet certain criteria.
