Confused about the process? Then you are paying attention
On Tuesday, voters again will cast ballots in either the Republican or Democratic primaries, not both.
– If you voted in the March 11 primary, you have to stick with that same party’s ballot. There’s no crossing over.
– If you didn’t vote in the March 11 primary, you can vote in either the Democratic or Republican runoff, but not both.
The winners of each runoff will be on the Nov. 4 general election ballot, along with Green Party candidate John Wages Jr. and Independent Wally Pang.
Two special elections are on tap – one on April 22, for the 1st District congressional seat, and one on Nov. 4, for the Senate seat vacated by Trent Lott and now filled on an interim basis by Roger Wicker.
These elections will be nonpartisan, meaning the candidates will run without party affiliations.
