Obama campaign calling for Clinton to release tax returns

“(Obama) has an instinct for openness and transparency that is part of why we believe he has the capacity to turn a new page for public life in this country,” said Brad Pigott, a former U.S. attorney who was appointed by Clinton’s husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Pigott was joined by former state Ethics Commission member Louisa Dixon, who is also a former commissioner of the Department of Public Safety.

“Mississippi has had plenty of secrets,” Dixon said. “We don’t need anymore. I think secrets are a theme that everybody is happy to put to bed.”

Clinton campaign officials say she is releasing her returns around tax time. They also point to a real estate transaction between an indicted property owner and Obama as evidence of his own secretiveness.
