Senate hearing today on affordable housing

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 4, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 3/4/8

A Mississippi Senate committee will hear testimony today about a lack of affordable housing on the Gulf Coast.

Hurricane Katrina victims and advocacy groups will discuss their concerns with the Senate Housing Committee.

Affordable housing remains scarce two and a half years after the storm leveled the area. A lack of affordable insurance, rising rents and sluggish federal-state programs designed for renters and low-income families have contributed to the problem.
