Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign will open an office in downtown Jackson as the Illinois Democrat prepares for Mississippi’s March 11 primary.
Former Gov. Ray Mabus and 2nd District Rep. Bennie Thompson are co-chairmen of Obama’s Mississippi campaign.
Mabus told reporters on a conference call Monday that nearly 1,000 people have volunteered in Mississippi to assist Obama’s presidential bid.
