The Democrat Editorial, 2/26/8
Mississippi Atty. Gen. Jim Hood has said that he will not pursue any action in connection with several high profile state trial lawyers currently facing federal charges.
He says, “I’m too close to them. It would be like prosecuting my relatives.”
It is indeed a sad state of legal affairs when the state’s highest legal officer declines to pursue the facts in a case that appears, at least at this juncture, to strike at the very foundations of the state’s legal system.
Mississippi would be better served if Mr. Hood would resign and allow Mississippians to elect a new attorney general in this November’s state-wide general election.
