Scruggs case saddens Barbour

The judicial bribery charges against Richard “Dickie” Scruggs sadden Gov. Haley Barbour for several reasons.

He and Scruggs have been friends since their days as undergraduates at Ole Miss, when Scruggs was known as Zeus because of his zeal for staying in shape. Also, the governor said, national headlines about judicial bribery in Mississippi tarnish the state’s reputation.
