Council approves $50K for Farish Street study

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 13, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 2/12/8

The Jackson City Council approved funding a $50,000 housing study for the Farish Street Historic District today.

The City Council unanimously approved an order authorizing the mayor to execute a professional services agreement with Asset Property Disposition, Inc. to provide consulting services on the Farish Street Historic District housing development plan.

Louis Armstrong, deputy director of the city Office of Housing and Community Development, said the study will take an in depth look and provide for a plan of action for implementing housing in the dilapidated district. He said the study will provide an assessment of what needs to be done — what properties are savageable and what houses need to be torn down.
