The Hattiesburg American, 2/4/8
Republican Sen. Roger Wicker said today the economic stimulus package should not be delayed with extra measures not passed by the U.S. House of Representatives.
“The best way to get the stimulus funds to the people is to pass the House-passed version. I think to go through a lengthy amendment process might take two or three weeks,” said Wicker.
“I’ll be voting with our leadership and Sen. Cochran to send the package on without any changes except one.” He will vote to prevent funds from going to illegal aliens.
There may an intermediate bill at later time with other relief measures, Wicker said.
