It was a classy, upscale dinner party Friday night with an unexpected entertainer — Broadway star Bernadette Peters – and a touch of scandal.
The Broadway songstress, splendid in a shimmery champagne gown, crawled onto the piano to sing, what else? Peggy Lee’s “Fever.”
At some point, reports the Washington Post’s The Reliable Source column, she lifted her skirt to “slyly” reveal her matching sequined… panties.
All of which left the guests, thrilled. Except Cochran, who didn’t see a thing.
“I was looking at her pretty face,” said Cochran in an interview. “I didn’t see her show her underwear.”
