Mississippi Republican Party
Chairman Jim Herring today released the following statement in
response to comments by Democrat Party Chairman Wayne Dowdy.
“I’d like to thank Wayne Dowdy and the Democrats for their help the
last few days. As usual, the Democrats can’t see for the forest for
the trees. Maybe it’s because of all the political mud in their eyes
from their recent attacks on Sen. Roger Wicker,” Herring said.
“I’ve heard from many friends on the Gulf Coast – and not just
Republicans mind you – who have all called with the same question.
Most have said, ‘Now let me get this straight. The Democrats and
Ronnie Musgrove are attacking Roger Wicker for using his position on
the House Appropriations Committee to bring home funding to
Mississippi? Don’t they realize it was because of Sen. Thad Cochran
and Rep. Roger Wicker on the respective Appropriations Committees that
brought the Katrina recovery money to help us in Mississippi and
particularly here on the Gulf Coast?'”
“My friends are right. I guess Wayne Dowdy and Ronnie Musgrove didn’t
want Roger’s help on the House Appropriations Committee any more than
they wanted Thad Cochran’s on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Thanks Wayne and Ronnie. I know Senator Wicker appreciates your lack
of vision yet again. You may have helped start the official Democrats
for Wicker movement.”
“I can’t wait for a debate in Pass Christian, Waveland, Bay St. Louis,
or any other town between Ronnie Musgrove and Senator Roger Wicker.
The Senator will surely stand squarely behind what he did to bring
federal appropriations back to Mississippi. Come to think of it, I
doubt former Governor Musgrove will show up. Maybe Ronnie can get
Wayne Dowdy to stand in for him yet again.”
