Position created to utilize ex-chief

By: Magnolia Tribune - January 15, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 1/15/8

Early Monday afternoon, Jackson Mayor Frank Melton said former Police Chief Shirlene Anderson would remain with the city. She would address truancy issues and dropout rates.

By the close of the work day Monday, that had changed.

Instead, Melton and Anderson today will discuss details of a new position: coordinator of emergency services.

Melton said Anderson later called him to say she no longer was interested in working with truants and dropouts.
