On the Jones v. Scruggs schedule for next week
Another event next week (probably the biggest yet scheduled. Perhaps more will be bigger later, but this is what we have for now) is a hearing set on the Jones, Funderburg preliminary injunction motion in the Jones, Funderberg v. Scruggs case.
For those not following this at an obsessive level: The criminal side of this started when Tim Balducci (allegedly acting for Dickie Scruggs) approached circuit judge Henry Lackey, for whose honesty I will personally vouch, and attempted to bribe him in the Jones case. Jones’s lawyer has moved for an order that Scruggs and his associates should be divested of everything connected with the Jones fees except possibly their undershorts because of this bribery attempt. And that’s what’s on for hearing Monday.
