Battle Over Former Senator’s Seat May Soon Be Settled

The ongoing battle over the election date to select a permanent replacement for Sen. Trent Lott’s seat may soon be settled.

Next Monday, Judge Bobby DeLaughter will hear the complaint filed by Attorney General Jim Hood.

Gov. Haley Barbour appointed Rep. Roger Wicker to be the interim senator and set a special election date for Nov. 4, 2008.

Hood says the election must be held within 90 days according to form a firm.
