Jackson’s city attorney again will start signing the document that approves payment of the city’s bills, Mayor Frank Melton said Wednesday.
City Council members have been reluctant to sign the claims docket, fearful they personally would be liable if an improper payment were made from the document.
City Attorney Sarah O’Reilly-Evans’ signature will greatly reduce the potential civil exposure the council faced from signing the document, members said.
