Analysis: Geography may play into Senate choice

By: Magnolia Tribune - December 28, 2007

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, 12/28/7

As the deadline looms for Gov. Haley Barbour to appoint an interim U.S. senator, several Mississippi political figures have been mentioned as possible selections.

The seat Sen. Trent Lott occupied for 18 years pretty much has grown to be considered property of South Mississippi, with Pontotoc native Sen. Thad Cochran occupying the “North Mississippi seat,” political observers note.
