Hinds County Sheriff/Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin isn’t being insensitive or heartless in cutting out overtime pay for police officers. He’s being realistic.

“There will be no overtime in the precincts. There will be no overtime anywhere else,” McMillin said last week.
“The only reason for overtime now,” he said, “will be special events. You can’t keep writing checks when you don’t have any money in the bank.”
