Getting busy downtown: Jackson: 22 projects, $751 million

The Clarion-Ledger, 12/16/7

In his relatively new role as president of Downtown Jackson Partners, former veteran Jackson city councilman Ben Allen faces some of the same obstacles that confronted him during his years at City Hall.

“Ultimately, it’s about getting everyone on the same piece of paper,” said Allen. “It’s about promoting and selling the city of Jackson to developers for what the city really is, not for the public’s perception and repeated media reporting of the reprehensible behavior of a few miscreants. And it’s about focusing on the tremendous potential that Jackson has for significant revitalization and growth in the downtown area.”

Downtown Jackson Partners manages and markets the city’s 66-block business improvement district, promotes new business and acts as a one-stop information center for developers.
