A Jackson police officer who accompanied Mayor Frank Melton on some of his after-hours outings is expected to testify before a federal grand jury.
Federal authorities are believed to be investigating the mayor’s crimefighting tactics as well as other actions he has taken since taking office in 2005.
Sgt. Zachary Donaldson would not discuss the subpoena or say when he is scheduled to testify.
“I wouldn’t get into it at this point. I wouldn’t feel comfortable,” Donaldson said.
