The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal Editorial, 12/4/7
In real simple terms, it’s time for Mike Moore to fish or cut bait.
The talk always has been that the former Democratic attorney general’s ultimate goal is the United States Senate – not the Mississippi governor’s mansion.
U.S. Sen. Trent Lott’s surprise announcement last week that he will step down from the Senate before the end of the month might be Moore’s best hope to reach that goal.
If Moore does run, he will be the favorite – regardless of conventional wisdom that Democrats have a hard time winning in Mississippi. No other politician in Mississippi can match his charisma and force of personality.
