Lott eyes career as lobbyist

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 30, 2007

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, 11/29/7

Sen. Trent Lott reportedly is weighing a new career as a lobbyist, perhaps with former colleague John Breaux of Louisiana.

Wednesday, The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times reported Breaux’s intentions to leave the firm of Patton Boggs LLP to form his own firm with his son, John Jr. Lott’s son, Chester, who heads a Kentucky-based lobbying firm, Lott and Associates, told Bloomberg .com that his father “was a lawyer years ago, and a lot of the lobbying law firms are calling. It’s all over the map.”

He said his father is considering a partnership with Breaux, a Democrat, as well as speaking engagements or as an occasional television-news commentator. The partnership is a possibility, Chester Lott said, because the two men “have a great relationship.”
