Mayor Frank Melton is expected to ask the City Council today to schedule a confirmation hearing on Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin as the city’s police chief, and some council members still are questioning the legality of someone holding both positions at once.
Also at today’s special meeting, council members will revisit approving the city’s payroll.
