The GOP juggernaut headed by Gov. Haley Barbour flattened Democrats Tuesday, leaving only one statewide officer standing: Attorney General Jim Hood.
Now, as titular head of the Democratic Party in Mississippi, Hood bears a terrible burden as the target for every partisan jab.
Next year, in federal elections, Democrats will have a shot at filling the 3rd District seat that U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Flora, is leaving, but the district make-up favors a Republican. And it’s doubtful a candidate can successfully challenge Republican 1st District U.S. Rep. Roger Wicker.
