Bryant: Cut session, save money

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 8, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 11/8/7

Lt. Gov.-elect Phil Bryant on Wednesday unveiled his first initiative – persuading lawmakers to shorten the upcoming legislative session to save Mississippi taxpayers about $825,000.

Shortening the 125-day session by 35 days would cut back on per diem salaries, mileage bills and staffing costs, Bryant said.

Bryant said he and Gov. Haley Barbour, who won his bid for re-election Tuesday, “both think we can save taxpayer money. I think it’s a great idea.”
