Longtime legislator John Reeves on Tuesday said he will contest his apparent loss in the District 71 race to Democratic challenger Adrienne Wooten.
“Therefore, the decision as to who will represent District 71 remains uncertain,” he said in a statement.
Reeves, a 50-year-old attorney, has held the seat since 1984. The Republican lawmaker cited voting irregularities in Jackson and Rankin County precincts as the reason for his challenge.
