JACKSON – The contest for state attorney general has had more than its share of fireworks leading up to Tuesday’s general election.
Democratic incumbent Jim Hood has hammered Al Hopkins, the Republican nominee, for his lack of prosecutorial experience. On the other hand, Hopkins has at times basically accused Hood of violating the law and at other times of exercising poor judgment in giving state contracts to attorneys who contributed to his campaign.
A group called Stop Lawsuit Abuse also has hammered Hood on the issue in television commercials. Hood says the criticism is not based on facts.
