Hood said there have been tremendous gains in his “10-point plan” during the last four years.
His office established the first Cyber Crime Center in the nation to address the growing concern of cyber-related criminal activity. The unit investigates and prosecutes crimes involving illegal computer and Internet activity, including child exploitation and pornography, identity theft and internet fraud. The center also provides safety training to civic organizations.
Hood also touted the passage of a bill limiting the sale of pseudoephedrine, a precursor in the manufacture of methamphetamines. The law placed pseudoephedrine products behind the counter or locked cases in stores and limited the amount that could be purchased at one time.
