Guv’s race: Cross-party endorsements raise ire
Espy, whose family is almost synonymous with “Democrat” in the Delta, and whose nephew unsuccessfully challenged 2nd District U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson in the party primary last year, certainly provided a zinger.
State Sen. Gloria Williamson, D-Philadelphia, a former state Democratic Party chairwoman, reacted with disappointment: “The rest of them, I think, were never real Democrats. But I think Mike Espy messed up something terrible.”
